This qualification is for those wishing to make a career out of playing sport or being involved in a sports facilitated career.

It is considered suitable for those seeking a management or senior position within industry and facilitates the development of the following knowledge and skills at regional/state and territory level:

It is envisaged that those participants wishing to undertake this course have or can demonstrated a solid understanding of the principles of the sport of Golf but who may not necessarily be looking for a career as a professional golfer.

Qualification Pathways

The Diploma of Sport and Recreation is the foundation Diploma qualification within the Sport and Recreation Training Package.

It’s specifically designed for those who are seeking a career within Sport and Recreation – in this instance specifically Golf and who wish to specialise in areas such as Marketing, Human Resources, Sponsorship etc.

Course Content

For this qualification you are required to complete nine (9) core units of competency, *four (4) Specialisation units of competency, and ten (10) electives, making a total of *23 units of competency. *The total number of units completed will be determined by your specialisation area

Students will also undertake a maximum of 220 hours practical work experience as part of this course.

This work experience will be arranged by One Step Further Pty Ltd. Students will be required to make their own transport to the venue on the designated days.

Whist undertaking your work experience students will be undertaking training and assessment for specific units of competency towards their Diploma as well as undertaking learning key principles of being an employee within a sporting organisation.

Course Duration - Learning and Assessment Strategies

Each person undertaking this qualification brings their own education and skills levels to the table, impacting on the overall time taken to complete their course.

Generally the Diploma of Sport and Recreation can be offered either in a classroom environment over forty-four (44) weeks, or self paced by a combination of on-the-job and tutorial study.

With the on-line web-based learning facilities and trainer support, participants have the capacity to complete their training in real-time yet at a pace that is reflective of their learning requirements.

Assessment will be a combination of written, demonstration, questioning, interview, problem solving, role-play, case studies, written tests and portfolio work.

Some units of competency will be clustered together for the purpose of delivery and assessment as per the requirements of the training package or for industry practical purposes.
