This qualification is for those wishing to make a career out of playing sport or being involved in a sports facilitated career. It is considered entry level and facilitates the development of the following knowledge and skills at regional/state and territory level:

Qualification Pathways

The Certificate II in Sport & Recreation (Career Oriented Participation) is the lead up to Certificate III in Sport & Recreation (Career Oriented Participation).

Those seeking a coaching career in Sport & Recreation can then go on to undertake the Diploma of Sport (Coaching) or the Diploma of Sport (Officiating).

Course Content

For this qualification you are required to complete five (5) core units of competency, fourteen (14) Stream units of competency, three (3) Golf specific elective units and seven (7) non-golf specific electives, making a total of 29 units of competency.

Students are required to undertake a maximum of 115 hours practical work experience as part of this course. This work experience is arranged through One Step Further Pty Ltd. We will be happy to sit and discuss these options with you prior to you enrolling in your course.

Course Duration - Learning and Assessment Strategies

Each person undertaking this qualification brings their own education and skills levels to the table, impacting on the overall time taken to complete their course.

Generally the Certificate II in Sport and Recreation (Career Oriented Participation) can be offered either in a classroom environment over twenty three (23) weeks, through a traineeship over 12 to 18 months (*Conditions apply) or self paced by a combination of on-the-job and tutorial study.

With the on-line web-based learning facilities and trainer support, participants have the capacity to complete their training in real-time yet at a pace that is reflective of their learning requirements.

Assessments will be a combination of demonstration, questioning, interview, scenario problem solving, role plays, written tests and portfolio. Delivery and assessments of units of competency may be clustered together as per the requirements of the training package or as is practical for industry application.
